Hampton runs its own municipal water system, buying wholesale water from Griffin, and our research didn't find a published backflow testing program for its customers. That means no interval or tester rule we can quote; ask the city if you're adding irrigation or get a notice. Call the number on this page to be connected with a local plumber in Hampton.

Who sets backflow rules in Hampton?
The City of Hampton. Hampton is a western Henry County suburb, home of Atlanta Motor Speedway, and it runs its own water system. The city has contracted an outside operator, Clear Water Solutions, to run that system, and the City of Griffin supplies it wholesale water. Henry County Water Authority serves Henry County generally, but the sources on file say it isn't the retail provider inside Hampton. If you're inside the city, the city's rules apply to your connection.
Is there a required test, and how often?
We don't know, and we'd rather say so than guess. Our research didn't find a published backflow program for Hampton water customers, so there's no interval, tester list or reporting method we can point you to. If you have an irrigation system, a pool fill or a business connection, call the city and ask three things: whether your connection needs a device, how often it must be tested, and who is allowed to test it. A plumber who does backflow work can explain which type of device a connection usually calls for, but the city's answer is the one that matters.
Which properties are most likely to need one?
Hampton's population more than doubled between 2000 and 2020, and its median home was built in 2005. Newer subdivisions often have in-ground irrigation, which is the most common reason a house needs backflow protection. A buried sprinkler line runs through soil and fertilizer, and a drop in main pressure can pull that water back toward the house without a device to stop it. Businesses along US 19/41 and GA-20, and venues near the Speedway that serve food, are the commercial connections a utility is most likely to want protected.
New plumbing goes through the City of Hampton Building Department, which uses its own permit application. Ask the department which permit fits an irrigation or device installation before work starts.
A Hampton note
On race weekends and event days, traffic around the Speedway can slow any service call, so plan non-urgent backflow work for a quieter day. If a device is leaking, close the valve feeding that line, leave the house supply on, and have the device's make and size ready when you call.
